The Australian market though small, has been fiercely loyal to the brand, this is an appalling way to treat such loyalty.

As I finished up this article, – the fool sitting next to me just Kicked the Sh_t out of himself with laughter, He read this article, then turned and said ” this car only gets 30-mpg? it’s a hybrid, right? dude the 2010 Porsche 911s gets 31-mpg wtf “

Porsche Centres across Australia are now taking orders for the Panamera S Hybrid, with deliveries beginning in August. The Panamera S Hybrid is priced at $298,300. [GRIPE] The same car – identical – in the USA and UK is on sale for $95,000 Australian Dollars. As a Porsche Owner this customer is OUTRAGED! Total production of the Mazda MX-5 sports car reached 900,000 units today at Mazda’s Hiroshima plant in Japan. The milestone was achieved 21 years and 10 months after mass production of the first-generation MX-5 commenced in April 1989 and further extends the Mazda MX-5’s lead as the best selling two-seater sports car of all time. Indeed, the MX-5 took that title from the MGB (1962-80) in May 2000 when production reached 514,853 units to exceed the iconic British sportster. Second place on the list is now held by Porsche’s 911 series (1964-present and pictured) which has sold over 700,000. It’s also fifty years this year since Jaguar launched the first affordable super sports two-seater, the E-Type (pictured), but more on that shortly. Gizmag More

Honda Japan has launched a special website featuring the all-new compact Fit Shuttle, scheduled to debut in March. The big news is that in addition to a petrol Fit Shuttle, Honda will offer a hybrid model equipped with Integrated Motor Assist making it the first wagon-type hybrid model in its class. Boutique Italian supercar builder Pagani has finally revealed its newest creation – the Huayra. Having made a splash with the outrageous Zonda hypercar, the company is upped the ante with a more powerful new model. Named after the god of wind and powered by a twin turbocharged V12 Mercedes-Benz AMG engine.

The engine produces a solid 522kW – 700hp of power and more than 1000Nm of torque. Pagani didn’t release any performance figures for the Huayra but did reveal the specially developed Pirelli tyres are rated to cope with speeds above 370km/h. Using the knowledge gained on the track-only Zonda R project the Pagani engineers have relied heavily on lightweight composite materials to keep weight to a minimum.

Steam-engined vehicles are quaint, retro and obsolete … right? Well, maybe not. The current land speed record for a steam-powered vehicle currently sits at 148 mph (238 kph), set by the British car Inspiration team in 2009. Now, Chuk Williams’ U.S. Land Steam Record (USLSR) Team is hoping to steal that title in its LSR Streamliner, powered by a heat-regenerative external combustion Cyclone engine – an engine that could someday find common use in production automobiles. About 3 years ago we reported on the Icon5 aircraft – at the time it was a prototype – purely a design exercise, Now We Want one, they have flown of the page and into the sky. At $135,000 you get a heap of brilliant design and a buzz that only the skys can offer!  Icon has now sold 500 of these stunning birds.

Original Post: 8/15/08 – The Icon A5 is a innovative sport aircraft from ICON, a California based company founded in 2005.
 

Since the FAA’s regulation changes in 2004 created the new Light Sport Aircraft category, ICON Aircraft’s sole purpose has been to create a vehicle offering simple, comfortable recreational flying for almost anyone.

The Icon A5 is based around a strong, lightweight carbon fibre airframe. Powering the aircraft is a pusher-style propellor mounted to a 100 horsepower Rotax engine, which can be fueled using both aviation or automotive gasoline. Read the full article »»»»
